Our hats are crafted from an exceptional selection of fine felts, each chosen for its distinct qualities. Rabbit felt is lightweight, water-resistant, and remarkably soft. Nutria felt, comparable to beaver, is exceptionally fine and renowned for its luxurious softness. Beaver felt stands among the highest-quality felts available—second only to chinchilla and mink—and is fully waterproof. Felts may be blended from 5% to 75%, with all dark-colored rabbit felts incorporating a minimum of 5% beaver for enhanced durability. Every hat is finished with a supple lambskin sweatband, ensuring superior comfort and longevity.

Each War Bonnet hat is custom made to order and shaped entirely by hand. We work with 100% rabbit, nutria, or beaver felt, as well as select blends such as 50/50 rabbit and beaver. Wool hats are available by request. Western-weight hats are crafted at 230 grams, while dress-weight hats are 160 grams, with additional weights available upon request to suit individual preferences and styling needs.

Material information:
100% Rabbit felt is water resistant, light weight, and soft
100% Nutria felt is similar to beaver, very fine. In my opinion one of the softest felts.
100% Beaver felt is one of the top quality felts next to chinchilla and mink felt. Beaver felt is 100% water proof.
Rabbit, Nutria, and Beaver felt can be made with 5% to 75% mix. All dark colored rabbit felts are 5% beaver.
All hats have lamb skin sweat bands.
